Puk Hammer Sørensen
- Former singer in Mariagerfjord Junior Choir
Signe taught us that you get the furthest with open arms and mutual respect… Her words – “girls who get along well, sing well together” – have stayed with me.
I still remember my audition. Signe greeted me with a huge smile and a warmth that instantly made me feel safe, even though I had never sung in a choir before. She had a natural ability to meet us children where we were and create an atmosphere where you dared to let go and just sing.
Under Signe’s direction, there was no doubt that joy of singing, community, and musicality were all at the heart of the work. She had a clear focus on the choir’s sound, rhythm, and expression, while always making sure singing remained fun.
Even though we were children, there was a sense of professionalism around the choir that made it both motivating and inspiring to be part of.
The community she built between the choirs was an amazing experience. It felt like having choir big sisters in Mariagerfjord Girls’ Choir, creating a special sense of connection across ages and levels.
Signe made me fall in love with singing and exploring music. I’ve sung in choirs ever since, and several times new conductors have said, “Have you sung under Signe Sørensen? She’s really talented!” — and I think that says it all.
Her words — “Girls who get along well, sing well together” — have stayed with me. Signe taught us that you get the furthest with open arms and mutual respect. I truly miss singing under Signe and can only give her my warmest recommendation.
